How many individuals feel that a gastric bypass should not be applauded?

Question:
Does anyone feel that that is the easy way out and that congratulations should be left for the individuals who sweat through it like the body is designed to do or do you feel like it takes alot of guts to chop your body like that and that was probably their last resort give a reason why for your response please?

Answers:
I completely think that it is the easy way out! I think there are some really severely obese people who had such dire health problem that it was a necessity, but I think the majority are people who have been looking for that quick fix all their lives. My mom is a case in point: she was overweight, but all her life would resort to OTC diet pills, prescription pills (i.e. Phen Fen) when all it came down to was that fact that she just didn't want to exercise or control her portions. I think congratulations are deserved by people who actually work at losing their weight, not by someone who surgically imposes anorexia on themselves.

Other Answers:
I think it should only be used in people that are litterally obese and not fashion dieters. I think it is a great tool for overweight people, I just don't want already thin people to abuse it.

my mom just made the cut off for the surgery she was 100lbs over weight she had the surgery and it has changed her life she lost so much weight she is almost my size right now i think she is a size 10 or an 8 she could never have done this on her own my whole family on my mothers side has a history of obesity i am glad my mother had this done since the surgery not only has she lost the weight the high blood pressure high cholesterol back pain all of it went down the drain. I think that people who have had the surgery should be applauded it is not the easy way out it takes guts to have it done and it takes alot to take massive doses of vitamins and supplements protien shakes daily and she eats differently tiny portions and can't eat and drink at the same time it is not an easy way out it is something she will have to live all her life.
