How do you maintain lost weight?

Question:
I lost 20 pounds in 4 weeks once but I didn't eat much and I exercised a LOT so I couldn't keep it off.

How can I keep it off next time and go back to eating normally, exercising normally and stuff?

Answers:
You can't keep weight off if you do it that way. Being an ex-anorexic, I know that when I fasted and lost weight by exercise and starvation, and then I started eating normally, I gained weight again. To be honest, you will have a body like your mother and grandmother's. Stop denying nature. Stop trying to look like an ideal. Start to be a real person and stop living for other's admiration.

BUT!

IF you want to get a head's up on how to eat healthy, and still lose weight, hire a trainer or go to Bally's and ask any buff guy there. That's what I did and this guy that's a trainer at another gym spent 2 hours with me showing me how to work out (this was when I was getting ready to go into the Army - it helped!) and then I went to see a nutritionalist and she showed me what to eat to get into my "fighting weight" =)

Other Answers:
that's the age old question, let me know if you find the magic answer..the losing weight is the easy part
Eat small portions regularly, watch your calorie intake and exercise a couple of times a week.
eat good things like healthy food
Get a book that counts calories. Thats how we did it.
Weigh once a week and keep track of what you eat.
Always know how many calories you had that day keep a diary.
When you start to gain on that amount then you know that was your set amount never eat more than that in a day.
Learn what you can eat is as important as loseing.
We count by the week and if your over eat, you have to make it up the next day. So by the end of the week you haven't went over your calories for the week or your weight isn't over the edge.
Stress over a 1 pound weight gain and you will never have to lose 30 pounds.
Ease into you diet. Start slow and decrease you intake of food slowly. This allows you body to adjust to the changing conditions. While you are going this, slowly add excercise. You need a slow build up of this too. It allows you body to acclimate to you new lifestyle of less food and more excercise. Once you are acclimated, the weight will come off like before, but since you body is used to the conditions you will maintain the weight loss.
I found this awesome product that actually worked for me. It has the most extensive workouts and nutrition guidelines that I have ever found. Experts say that if you stick with an exercise program for 90 days you have a 75% chance of doing it for the rest of your life. I have tried so many diets and exercise programs. This one is different because it combines fitness, nutrition and mind set training that also teaches you how to keep the weight off. You can do the workouts at home. There are are different workouts for each of the 90 days. It can be weight resistance, static stretching, dynamic stretching or a combination.
The nutrition guidelines teach you what to eat at the right time of day so that your body is in a constant state of high metabolism (even while you sleep.) There are no pills, potions, gimmicks to this. Is is all scientific based. It costs $199 for the entire system(worth 2 million in my mind)I lost 40 lbs of body fat in 2 months!!If you would like more information on where I got this product, email me at brynmarieb@yahoo.com
