Why was Ephedra banned and is it still banned ?

Question:

Answers:
Ephedra as used in health supplements can't be used to make meth. It's usually so blended with other herbs and minerals that there's no way to actually get the epehdrine/ephedra out of the supplement.

The reason that Ephedra was banned was because several deaths occurred that could be linked to ephedra. for lack of a better term, the FDA started a witch hunt to get ephedra pulled from the shelves. The fact of the matter is that over the 10 year span that ephedra was on the market, the FDA was only able to try and blame ephedra for about 150 deaths. Compare that to over 650 deaths that occur each year from Tylenol!

On April 14th, Neutraceuticals, the makers of MetaboLife, took the FDA to court and got the ban overturned. So as of Arpil 14th, Ephedra is one again legal. Part of the settlement was that ephedra supplements can have a maximum of 10mg of ephedra, and it must be time release.

If you are looking for an ephedra supplement, check out Herbalean. It's by the people that made MetaboLife, and they also include Hoodia as an appetite suppressant, along with 77 other trace minerals and herbs.
