Other Answers:
Carbohydrates are found in plant based foods. Good carbohydrates are complex and take longer for your body to break down and help you feel fuller longer. They are less refined and help your blood sugar to keep a constant rate. Complex carbohydrates are things like whole wheat breads and pastas, old-fashioned oatmeal, and brown rice. Also, veggies and fruits have carbohydrates, but are necessary for a well balanced diet.
Simple carbohydrates are usually refined products like white bread and white rice. They spike your blood sugar levels almost the way plain white sugar would and do not help keep you feeling full for an adequate length of time.
I wouldn't worry so much about high or low carb foods. Just make to get the most out of the carbs you chose to eat. The more compex, the better for your heart, the more satiated you'll feel, and the more balanced your diet will be.
