Question:
I have been doing 20 mintutes of a walking a mile exercise tape. I have pain in the back of my thights. It occurs everytime I step down from stairs or either getting up from sitting down. When I do the exercise I feel better , but the pain comes back .

Answers:
The tautness of muscles is an indication that you are not in good shape physically.

Regular excercise make the muscles and tendions supple, and flexible. They can be pushed to any limit without getting tired. If irregular excercise, the muscles become stiff, and the pain you feel indicates its soreness.Try this test.

Feet apart, knees srtraight, bend forward to touch your toes.Do it five times, in gentle swing of body. When you have finished, relax a while. If by evening your muscles pain, then you need regular excercise.

Other Answers:
keep exercising it will go away "no pain no gain"
it just means your hamstrings are still out of shape
you'll be ok..muscle soreness is common with exercises
