The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:
*1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm
Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.
Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight:
Adults: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm
Teens/Children: http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/exercise/weight/bmi.html
It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.
*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.
Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs:

Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Here is an excellent food pyramid that anyone can follow: http://www.rayandterry.com/html/images/PyramidLRG.gif?osCsid=26a424be471d1337e7c2f105d5c64d9d
*3) Exercise on most days by doing cardiovascular training and/or resistance training activities.
Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure your doing all resistance training exercises correctly. A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is “Weight Training for Dummies”. A superb magazine to buy with resistance training routines that will not get you bored is "Muscle and Fitness". Signup for the free newsletter. An excellent free online resource is at http://www.exrx.net/
A good book to buy that teaches you the cardiovascular training basics is “Fitness for Dummies”.
*4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.
*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A superb book to read is “You The Owner’s Manual”. An excellent periodic publication is the “Nutrition Action Health Letter”. A reputable test you can take to measure your biological age is at http://realage.com
Look at all areas where you can enhance your health. For example, make improvements in the quality of the air you breathe. Review outdoor air quality forecasts where you live and get an indoor air purifier. Send me an email or yahoo instant message to "gainbetterhealth" if you want an indoor air purifier recommendation and if you have any questions.

this article has some great weight loss and exercise programs that will help you lose that extra weight and tone you up
You're fine. Enjoy your life instead.
Child relax- you have nothing to worry about as far as weight is concerned.
that is so sad You are only 11, and you are worried about your wieght? That is soo silly.
This is so sad...
You are fine the way you are!
Stop putting food into your mouth. Just stop eating candy for a month and you will lose several pounds. Weight contorl is all about energy imbalances. You take in too much and don't burn enough and you gain weight.
Your current weight is fine anyway. But you need to know how to keep it in the normal range. Avoid sugars and fats. Take up jogging.
hahahahah, your perfect the way you are dear!
No, don't take just anything! Get out and walk or do some kind of excercise. Also, start eating salads for at least one meal and cut out soda and sweets (for the most part).
u dont need to lose anything. ur weight is perfect. just make sure u eat right and excercise
don't worry. you're fine.
it may be just muscle which weighs more than fat or you may grow into your weight during the school year.
Please don't try to lose weight, you will end up with an eating disorder like I did (Im 14). Trust me its much better to be a little chubby and happy..then skinny and depressed. If you want to get into shape just exercise more.
Kids are all different...don't worry so much...let your body grow like it wants the next couple of years.
My daughter will be eleven in 4 mnths. She worries all the time.....opposite of you though. She is 4ft 4 and weighs 68 pounds. She is and probably always will be small. She's not happy with it, but she is learning to face the fact that people come in all shapes and sizes. Thats one thing that makes us unique. Have fun and enjoy your youth. Don't obsess about your weight at such an early age.
I know exactly how you feel. Everyone says I look ok too, but I think it wouldn't hurt to shed a few pounds. I'm 5'4" and weigh 115. What I do is cut all of my portion sizes in half. Say you normally eat a sandwich, 1 cup of vegeatables, or one cup of fruit for a meal. Now cut the sandwich in half and only eat 1/3 cup of vegetables and fruits or maybe even 1/4 cup. Another big thing in never drink any beverage that contains calories. Calories sneek into everyones diet through sodas and fruit juices, and they don't even fill you up. Try to stick with low calorie foods, lean meats, and diet drinks. This seems to work for me. Then when you do lose the weight, slowly increase your portions so you are eating more comfortable (feeling full).
Another secret I just thought of is eat a lot of fiber. Fiber fills you up fast and for a long time without adding calories. Fiber is mostly found in whole grains/ breads and such. A person only needs 25-30 grams of fiber a day. Be careful not to over do it.
Ya Know, some people have a genetic predisposition to being slightly heavier than others. At your age you shouldn't worry about being alittle above the twig stage, you are probably better off physically than some others who don't weight 80lbs.
Please don't worry about your weight yet. If you are really upset talk to a nutritionist and see what they say would help you look slimmer.
But I bet you that you'll only get stronger and not thinner regardless how much exercise you do or what diet you eat. Just don't take pills, or starve yourself, it'll only do you harm.
Just wait and see what happens to your body in the next three to four years, it will amaze you.
GAIN WEIGHT!!!
Stop watchin TV and typin on this thing and go out and see what real people look like. You're totally normal, even a little skinny. Jeezus... 11-year-olds should not be worried about their weight. If you continue to be worried about your weight, see a counselor. This could develop into an eating disorder. Seriously... you are fine, unless you are a budding young anorexic, then you need help, not weight loss.
You are fine. Don't worry about your weight. You too young to be fretting about how much you weigh. Your body mass index is right where its supposed to be. Enjoy life when your young. Have fun!!!
Don't loose the weight just because you want to fit in at school try not to obsesses about your weight. but i know that it is not that easy i have been struggling with an eating disorder for several years know it can control your life your every thought. It started with me when i was in the fith grade me and friends wanted to loose weight and it lead to an eating disorder that has caused many health problems and will probably lead to my death. if you need someone to talk to email me at sara_13086@yahoo.com. i will not judge you i will listen and try to help you. so please don't worry about your weight worry about being healthy and having fun enjoy life live!!!
You're only eleven and you're concerned with your weight be cautious of unhealthy eating patterns but continue to eat you don't lose weight by not eating don't be confused and stay active you're young.
Your weight is fine. Dont worry just exercise more if your worried stay away from the junk food and eat more fruits and vegetables. Your young so don't worry about your weight. Actually for 5'2 your weight is where its suppose to be anyways. Relax and have fun ok.Good luck to you. Peace
