I saw on CNN today that Kristie Alley was eating 8,000 calories a day. Don't eat that much.
There are a lot of things that factor into a persons recommened carlorie intake, but on average 1500-1800.
Ask your doctor. I was not given an amount to eat, so I will sometimes eat 7500+ kcal a day.

Definitely depends on your activity level. No less than 1300, (that would be for a couch potato, or someone who was overweight/obese and trying to lose a lot of weight. Definitely no more than 2,000 calories, if you're pretty active.
