whats the difference between yoga and pilates?

Question:
i have no idea, 1 year it was all yoga, now it's all pilates. whats the difference? which is better to do?

Answers:
Yoga is a five-thousand year old practice that originated in India. Pilates was created by Joseph Pilates during the World War to help rehabilitate soldiers.

Joseph Pilates based many of his moves from yoga. But his system focuses mainly on the core (the back and abdomen) and it is a purely physical practice. Yoga on the other hand, is an orthodox philosophy that unites the mind, body and spirit. I always encourage my students to treat their classes like "a meditation in motion".

I personally like yoga better, because it benefits me not just physically, but mentally and emotionally.

Other Answers:
yoga is less stressful. more stretching and relaxation in some of there excercises. also stress releif for the mind. pilates is similar in alot of ways but more just body workout for lean muscle. this has some yoga you might like to look at
