Should I excersize when I am trying to gain weight?

Normally, the answer would be yes but put your efforts into muscle building exercise like weight training or pilates and avoid high cardio exercise.
If you were anorexic though, a lot of doctors want patients to wait to exercise because some anorexics abuse exercise and over do it, burning too many calories and sabotaging the effort to get well.
IF.that might be you, ask your doctor first.
But if you are convinced you are well, then go ahead and start lifting weights.
If you aren't doing weight bearing exercise, what you gain will be all fat and no matter what exercise you do, you cannot convert fat into muscle. What would happen is that you add fat and then you'd try to add muscle and burn fat.
It makes a lot more sense to avoid excess fat (yes you need some) and build muscle in the first place.

It would seem unhealthy to do that without atleast a little exercise No, to gain weight but stay healthy you should eat a little bit of junkfood and some healthy food and still excersize like 1 or 2 times a week. =)

Yes, u need to exercise while you are tryin to gsin weight, so that the excess fat would be burnt out and you will have muscles and no excess fat. I'm 67yrs old. I've spent hundreds of dollars and 50 years trying to gain weight. 5'6" 110 lbs. First gain the weight then exercise. If you exercise first you'll never gain the weight, exercise is how you lose weight!

exercise as much as you can and lift the strongest weight you can. Also eat a lot of calories! If you don't have the food calories then when you are exercising you will just be burning your muscle and you don't want to do that, so make sure you are eating plenty and then lifting weights! Excersize at a regular basis along with proper eating times and working/ sleeping time.this way 'you' won't injure the inner functions of 'your' organs..and 'grow' to the 'natural' size of your hereditary body growth..In other words have a 24 hr. 7 day a week 'program' 365 days a week PLANNED in advance with an hr. or 2 each day for those 'extras' that 'pop' up .and if not then just continue with whatever 'you' were 'working' on and move to whatever else was to follow a bit sooner.( gets more done and is a healthy progam/cericulum)..good luck.take time to Build same but once entered a lot will be accomplished and the mind will find many other interesting thoughts than thinking of eating..more for the SPIRIT of 'your' personallity.so to spesk.

been there..and 'you' might eat a bit more FAT in the fall and a bit of fat in the other seasons as in this way the MUSSLE won't get lost/dissolve..but do read up on nutrition and excercise as no two person's are the same..and also the TYPE of excecise, and all one needs is a bit more than what the daily activities of the day bring with a THOUGHT to the future.like running in a marathon..p.s Fat burns off but there are many types of FAT so in other words EAT HEARTY.but in moderation .and don't forget the ''GERITAL''-SO-TO-SPEAK..BUT MINIMAL ON THE VITAMINS..AND REMEMBER THAT WHICH 'ONE' RELEASES IN THE toilet IS food THAT THE BODY DID NOT need..so EAT a VARIETY of ALL foods..regularly.
