I don't think that losing exactly 17 pounds is even possible to do healthfully (you're 12, you don't want to damage your body) or even a good idea. How did you come up with the answer of 17? It's just a number and means nothing.
If you are overweight, and want to lose some, then it sounds as though you are on the right track - you're going for walks and bike riding. 50 sit ups is too many - do 10, rest for at least one minute, do 10 more, and then you're done. Do them slowly, and your muscles will become stronger. Doing 50 isn't going to result in a flatter tummy.
Again, only if you are overweight, it would be a good idea to talk to a doctor or a dietician about your weight, so you can get some good ideas on healthy foods to remain healthy and fit, which is far more important than what the scale says.
It's sad to see a 12-year-old obsessed with body image. Remember, kid, you're still growing and developing. Even if you're a little pudgy now, you could turn rock solid with the right exercise and activity.

Start by setting little goals for you to achieve. If you just focus on the 17 pounds you might not achieve it. For example set a goal of 7 pounds this week, 4 pouns next week, and 6 pounds the week after. Unless you do some strenious excersise and diet very well you are not going to achieve that though. Now as far as working out, do cardio's every other day(running,bicycling), on the other days work on your ab's, legs and the such.
