How do I know what is a healthy weight for me?

Question:
I'm female and 30-something years old, 5' 9" tall and 150 pounds. My BMI is about 22.5 (right in the middle of 'normal' weight range). I've been told by several doctors that I shoudn't weigh more than 120 pounds, but that would make me MUCH too thin according to the BMI charts. I do have arthritis in my hands and legs, and my doctor has told me that arthritis in anyone my age is caused by being overweight. So how do I find out what I should weigh?

Answers:
OMG!!! 5' 9" and they said 120??!! MALPRACTICE!!!

A 22.5 BMI is fine and healthy. Trust your instincts--get healthy, not lighter. Eat right and exercise, you'll be in the right range.

Forget the charts, and for gosh sakes, don't take any cues from magazine ads or hollywood!!

It's what you're comfortable at,your body will let you know when you have reached that medium
