What stomach surgery do you wanna know about? There is a DS, a RNY (Gastric Bypass), VSG, or VBG. You should go to this site.

I'm going to be getting the lap band. That's not stomach stapling, but a band that's put around your stomach. There is no cutting of the stomach, or intestines what so ever.
Condolences to your friend. Now granted, I don't know the details, but if she died from infection, perhaps she wasn't taking care of herself properly. My wife had it done, had a bad infection. But took very good care of it ALWAYS, and she is just fine. i myself am gonna do the Lab Band in about 3 months. I'll let ya know how it goes.
I have taken care of many people who have had an MGB, mini gastric bypass, immediately after surgery and repeat surgeries becasue they had to have a complication repaired.
The doctors don't tell you how many people actually have complications because that would not make them as much money.
Take it from me, an RN, it is not safe.
my mother did it was awful, she cannot absorb iron or calcium in to her body, her bones are depleting.and it caused her to get a full hysterectomy.was not worth it at all..and her bones and joints hurt daily>>>
My roommate just had Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass surgery last month and she's doing great!
She was achey for the first few days. She could only eat liquid or pureed food for the first three weeks.
She's lost 40 pounds and has LOTS of energy. She eats three meals a day, each is four ounces. In two weeks she can exercise.
It's strange that she's going to end up smaller than me by the time she stops losing weight. I can't imagine how amazing she'll look and feel.
There are risks. My advice is to get informed. When it came to my roommate, she felt that this was her only option to avoid being morbidly obese for the rest of her life but it took her a long time to cope with the risk factors.
Remember that there are way more success stories than failures.
