The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:
*1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm
Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.
Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight:
Adults: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm
Teens/Children: http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/exercise/weight/bmi.html
It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.
*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.
Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs:

Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Here is an excellent food pyramid that anyone can follow: http://www.rayandterry.com/html/images/PyramidLRG.gif?osCsid=26a424be471d1337e7c2f105d5c64d9d
*3) Exercise on most days by doing cardiovascular training and/or resistance training activities.
Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure your doing all resistance training exercises correctly. A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is “Weight Training for Dummies”. A superb magazine to buy with resistance training routines that will not get you bored is "Muscle and Fitness". Signup for the free newsletter. An excellent free online resource is at http://www.exrx.net/
A good book to buy that teaches you the cardiovascular training basics is “Fitness for Dummies”.
*4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.
*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A superb book to read is “You The Owner’s Manual”. An excellent periodic publication is the “Nutrition Action Health Letter”. A reputable test you can take to measure your biological age is at http://realage.com
Look at all areas where you can enhance your health. For example, make improvements in the quality of the air you breathe. Review outdoor air quality forecasts where you live and get an indoor air purifier. Send me an email or yahoo instant message to "gainbetterhealth" if you want an indoor air purifier recommendation and if you have any questions.

Eat sensibly and plenty of exercise
try weight watchers-if you're dedicated enough and serious enough, it works. it's 12 dollars a week, per meeting, and you have a weekly weigh in. they have 2 different diet plans-the core or the flex. the core is a point system where each food is worth so many points, and you can only have a certain point amount a day. or the flex is where you eat as much fruit, veg, and grains as you want. go to http://www.weightwatchers.com/index.aspx
and find one near you.
not so much dieting as in eating healthier for better health. try breaking yr portions of intake into 6-7 small meals throughout the day. this plus a good exercise routine will do the trick. getting a buddy to do this with you will also help you stick to it. some great programs for weight loss in this article
If you have not tried the South Beach Diet, I highly recommend it! It is great for diabetics, too. You do not ever feel hungry, the food is good, and the weight loss is quick and healthy. You will notice results and feel better withing the first two weeks.
i,ve had trouble losing weight too but i guess the old addage of eating healthily sensibly and a little excercise is the key. i'm sure that your a wonderful person no matter how much you weigh.
smaller portions and more exercise
I don't know if what I do will work for you(Because everyone is different) But what I did I stopped eating bread and tortillas and when I cook instead of using oil for example I used butter(less calories) I still enjoy food every day! and i walk every day for about 45 minutes to an hour(that's my exercise not hard) I drink milk (low fat) and water. this is obviously working for me good luck!

Do weight training 3-4 days a week along with cardio-workouts(running, cycling, etc) also 3 days a week, for about half-an-hour a day.
Change your diet, try to include more proteins in-place of Fats
and carbohydrates, However your diet must meet your
minimum carbohydrates and fat reuirements. Also have lots of Fruits and Vegetables. Do I need to mention sufficient water intake ? Avoid-Aerated Drinks, Candy bars, Potato chips, cut out on the alcohol, food containing refined flour, etc.
A healthy diet, Weight training and a good cardiovascular program are all you need to stay in good shape.
GET OF UR HUGE FAT *** N DO SUMMIN U LAZY FAT KUNT, GO ON, JOIN A GYM OR SUMMAT.
I've had the same problem, and eventually went to see my doctor who's prescribed reductil for me because my bmi was over 30.
It's easy to say eat less & take more exercise, but if you do that and still see the scales creep up, it's the most awful disheartening thing ever.
I know a lot of people have found success with WeightWatchers or the other slimming classes, but they don't work for everyone. I tried one for a year and lost 9lb. Sounds great, but the friend I went with lost 2 stone (28lb)! I was envious of her and resented paying £6 every week to be lectured by the class leader about stuff that I already knew.
However, I would never recommend any fad diet - they all change your eating habits in the short term and as soon as you finish the diet, the weight piles back on.
Good luck with whatever you choose to do.
Your first problem it that you are dieting. Diets don't work, healthy habits do. Most people have a problem with portion control and they do not know what foods are actually healthy to eat. Don't go on fad diets they can make you slow down and be miserable.
Here are some tips that I find most helpful:
1. Go through your fridge and pantry and toss or give away junk food or foods that are not the best choices so that you won't be tempted. READ nutrition labels: notice protein, carbohydrates, fat, and Serving Size especially. Also notice fiber, sugar, and calories.
2. Drink lots of water, I notice sometimes when I'm thirsty I think I'm hungry. Water also fills your stomach, so if you're not really hungry, it should do the trick. Don't eat because you are upset or bored. Go for a walk or take a bath to relax.
3. Cut down on things that add unnecessary calories, carbs, fat, and sugar. Stop drinking soda; substitute jelly or jam for fat free cream cheese; go easy on the peanut butter or cut it out completly. Taste your food before you add salt or butter. Use fat free milk instead of whole milk (that's a BIG one!) Soy milk is good, it's lower carb than fat free milk but it has about 6g of fat per serving, where as fat free milk has none. I prefer the fat free milk.
4. If you're looking for taste you should look in to seasonings, and I don't mean things like breadcrumbs. Herbs like rosemary, basil, etc. often are the best things for adding flavor without adding calories, fat, etc. Lemon is great, too.
5. You need to balance your protein and your carb intake- they need to be almost equal, slightly more protein is better. These intakes depend on your age and physical activity. A previous poster was correct in stating that you need to eat more frequently, anywhere from 5 to 7 meals per day. This keeps your energy levels where they need to be. I eat 5 meals, most meals consisting of about 30g of protein, 30g of carbohydrates, and 8g of fat. The more the meals the lower the intake numbers. Like I said, it depends on your age and activity. It can be difficult to get enough protein and very easy to get enough carbs. Supplementing your meals with protein shakes is a great way to get what you need. They do taste kind of funny, but they're worth it. If you get vanilla and add your favorite fruit and a touch of instant pudding powder, they can be pretty tasty. You have to experiment.
6. Go for carbohydrates with fiber, like broccoli. Don't eat a lot of high-glycemic carbs like beans and white potatoes. Eat lots of fish, chicken, and eggs. If you take out the yolk of the egg, you take out the fat. Ground beef is very high in fat, so eat it sparingly.
7. You can not do without physical activity, especially since muscle mass burns fat for you. Having muscle mass doesn't mean you have to look like a body builder, either. There are different ways of exercising to attain the physique you are looking for. For example, when weight training, if you want a lean body you use lighter weights but more repetitions. If you want a body built for strength you need to use higher weights and less repetitions. There's really too much information to state it all here.
8. I've heard brushing your teeth after a meal will discourage you from eating between meals.
9. With exercise, as with food even, there is somthing called a 'plateau.' A plateau is what happens when your body gets used to your routines and is no longer challenged by them. I this case you need to make some changes to jump start your body back into improving itself. You either need to try new exercises or switch to a slightly differerent menu. Eating a little less healthy on the weekend can actually help, but don't go overboard. Allow yourself indulgences in moderation...eat one slice of pizza, not five. Supplement it with a salad instead of breadsticks.
10. I've heard that our bodies have trouble digesting overprocessed foods. Over processed foods go through our system much faster than we require them to. Food is fuel, and if the fuel runs through the system to quickly we cannot get the maximum beneifit or the energy we need, so we consume more fuel. More feul means more calories, fat, etc. Try to find products that are more organic as they are supposed to be better for our natural digestion. I have not tried many organic products as I can not afford them. They are usually a few dollars more than their counterparts. If you can afford them, great!
11. It helps to have someone there for moral support. You have to accept yourself and what you can accomplish, and I know when your carrying too much weight, self esteem is low and misery can make things go down hill. I wasn't an active kid and have always struggled with my weight until I met my boyfriend, a gym nut, four years ago. He encouraged me to get in to the shape I wanted and convinced me striving to have a body like Jessica Alba wouldn't even be physically possible for me- and that was okay! Everyone has a different shape and frame. There is no way, no matter how thin I am that I could look like Jessica when I've got the frame of Cory Everson! You have to work with your natural frame and structure... It's very much like this... a person should not wear petite clothes if they are 6 ft tall. It's that simple.
12. Get enough good sleep!
13. Don't judge yourself by the weight scale, it's a poor measurement tool unless you know what is a healthy weight for you specifically, not for someone your age and height. Go by fat percentage or BMI (body mass index), but don't bother with an online calculator (they are NOT always accurate), use a pair of body fat calipers instead.
MOST IMPORTANTLY:
Do NOT starve yourself or deprive your body of the nutrition is needs. If you don't get enough nutrients your body will burn muscle as fuel and you don't want that.
