The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:

*1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm

Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.

Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight:
Adults: http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm
Teens/Children: http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/exercise/weight/bmi.html

It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.

*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.

Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs:
http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/nutritionsource/carbohydrates.html

Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Here is an excellent food pyramid that anyone can follow: http://www.rayandterry.com/html/images/PyramidLRG.gif?osCsid=26a424be471d1337e7c2f105d5c64d9d

*3) Exercise on most days by doing cardiovascular training and/or resistance training activities.

Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure your doing all resistance training exercises correctly. A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is “Weight Training for Dummies”. A superb magazine to buy with resistance training routines that will not get you bored is "Muscle and Fitness". Signup for the free newsletter. An excellent free online resource is at http://www.exrx.net/

A good book to buy that teaches you the cardiovascular training basics is “Fitness for Dummies”.

*4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.

*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A superb book to read is “You The Owner’s Manual”. An excellent periodic publication is the “Nutrition Action Health Letter”. A reputable test you can take to measure your biological age is at http://realage.com

Look at all areas where you can enhance your health. For example, make improvements in the quality of the air you breathe. Review outdoor air quality forecasts where you live and get an indoor air purifier. Send me an email or yahoo instant message to "gainbetterhealth" if you want an indoor air purifier recommendation and if you have any questions.

Get over it and move on. Losing 20 pounds in less than a month isn't healthy, and you'll just gain the weight (and more) back way too quickly.
you start on the last day of the last school year, not 23 days before school starts.
Try working out all day
Yeah, there's no healthy way to do it.
That's too much weight to lose in such short amount of time...

Just eat healthy and excercise alot.
walking and diet
eat right and exercise a lot and try to bike it helps a lot also
Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic index and load. It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way we have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.

Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad carbs and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

what are you 12? who cares its only school.....school kids are all superficial anyways
why would u want to loose 20 pounds befor skool ?
thats silly who u are is how god wanted you
okay im doe lol try like ten i think thats good enough
i mean ur proabally not over wait
You dont...the healthy way is to lose a pound a week...It seems like you would only be able to lose 4 pounds at the max...but you could easily lose 20 pounds in two or three months...so if you just workout alot and eat alot of fruits and veggies...you will be slammin' by October!
very hard- lipo is quick and expensive- work out, slim your meals, only dish out small portions, eat a lot of celery- that worked when i had to lose all the weight i gained for a movie role- its very hard to lose a pound a day- that isn't healthy at all- im not sure you can do that w/o gerastic measures
You won't. But you could lose some weight and tone up a bit. Also, dress for the body you have and you will look good. If you keep up with exercise and eating healthy you should continue losing weight even after school starts.
All you need to do is work out a lot. A LOT. For two hours a day. Drink Gatorade. Eat low calorie foods. And try to have no dessert. Stay Healthy.
I have 27 Days before School.

Exercise.
Eat Healthy.

Walking around in school also helps.
why do you want to lose 20 lbs?
b_i_t_c_h stop eating
not totally impossiable but this article will help you out with some great weight loss programs and exercises
By losing half of that.

20 pounds in 23 days is too great of ashock to the system.

Reduce your intake 500 calories.

Cut out junk food, sodas and ANYTHING from Starbucks.

Increase raw vegetables and water.

Exercise 5 dats a week for a t least 30 minutes.
Start school 10 weeks later than planned...

There is no reason to lose 20 pounds before school. If you want to lose weight, you have to do it slowly, and sensibly, or you can cause other health problems, and most likely will gain it back later on.
I don't know about 20lbs but, ten days ago I got myself a pedometer, (best $3.00 I have ever spent), in 10 days I have lost 8lbs. I am so proud of myself I just started out seeing how many steps I took and everyday, I wanted to do more, my goal is 10,000 a day, I think that is a great way to get started and it won't hurt you, I also have started portion control, I switched to smaller plates and I eat a lot less but, I am still full. These are some ideas, I don't know how old you are but, since your still in school your body is still developing and changing, don't do anything to damage it try just adding heathly choices to your life, instead of soda have water, instead of a snack cake have juice or berries.
Good Luck and have a great school year.

One more thing try really hard in school because what you do today will effect your future tomorrow.
