How do I stretch my shins? i.e the front of my lower legs?

Question:

Answers:
The muscles of the anterior aspect of the leg dorsiflex (opposite of pointing your toes) and evert (turning your the bottom of your foot out) the ankle and extend the toes (pulling your toes up).

To stretch them, you want to do the opposite to their action. This means that your leg and foot should be in a (relatively) straight line with the bottom of your foot turned in.

stretch #1
- while sitting straighten your leg, point your toes and turn your heels in slightly

stretch #2
- kneel on the ground with the top of your foot against the ground and sit back on your feet (use your discretion here if you have weak ankles)

These muscles have a tendency to cramp up in some people, so you may want to try them slowly at first.

Other Answers:
