Just heard from my sisters that refined sugar and plain flour are bad for health. Is it true? Alternatives?
Question:
Answers:
This is true. Go to any health food store and get "organic" unrefined whole grain flour. And try stevia for a sweetner. It too is all natural.
New studdies have shown artifical sweetners are causing cancer, even splenda.
Other Answers:
They aren't the best items for you. You should try eating whole wheat when you have the option.
Yep. Tis true unfortunately. Unprocessed wheat flour and splenda are the best choices currently. There are many sugar substitutes, but this one doesn't upset my stomach. SO, it is my choice. :)
Yes, anything white is not good for you. Try wheat products and raw can sugar found at many health food stores
Try artificial sweetners and unleavened flour.
I have always been told that was true. I live in a very health conscious city. The heath food stores always say "the whiter the bread the sooner you're dead!" The best alternative is almond flower. If you want healthy breads, their is Ezekiel Bread or Spelt bread, to name a couple. As far as the sugar goes, a good alternative is Canin 100% natural brown sugar. I use Splenda for cooking, but some people don't like it. Honey is also better for you that refined sugar. If you cut those two things out of your diet, you will feel so much better.

Not true. Any kinds of sugar and flour are almost pure carbs and consuming too much of them can lead to obesity. In moderation they are totally harmless.
