Is my diet any good?

Question:
Once I wakeup I walk 3 miles and then eat a bowl of cereal. Then I wait until I'm hungry and have lunch. Then again I wait until I'm hungry and have dinner. I have one king size candy bar usualy no more than 500 colories. I drink only water all day and one glass of 1% milk at night. I make sure to have salad or some other vegetables with my lunch or dinner or both. That is all I eat the whole day. The chocolate is a long habit I had since I was a kid so I cut down and plan to quit soon.

Answers:
This is not a good diet! To wait until you're really hungry is like waiting until you're really thirsty to have a drink, by that time your already dehydrated or in the case of food, your metabolism is already slowed down.
You want to eat approximately every three hours if you really want to rev up your metabolism. Your body is designed to fight famine therefore, will begin storing all calories as fat if it feels food is scarce. If you feed your body small frequent meals comprised of both carbohydrates and protein including veggies and fruit you'll see some pretty great results in a very short time and you'll do it without feeling hungry. You'll be feeding your body so frequently that it will start burning the calories you put in your body for fuel instead of storing them as fat as famine will be the farthest thing from reality!
Good Luck!

Other Answers:
Your diet is just fine as long as your eating balanced meals for lunch and dinner.
sounds okay. cut down on the chocolate. have half a day then only a fourth. you can have a fourth a day, but it's easier to just stop.
It's great to wait til you're hungry before eating. It is a very good diet.
wow is actually pretty impressive. is good that you are waking up to exercise, that's great! If you are trying to mantain your weight you need thirty minutes if you are trying to lose some weight 45 mins would do the trick. You are obviously on the right path. I would recommend though that you don't wait until you are hungry cause usually when people do this they tend to over eat. Also I would recommend that you work out later at night because then you are burning all those calories from that delicious chocolate bar.. about that I think it's okay to enjoy life, dieting doesn't mean you need to abstain from everything, that's a common mistake people make. good luck with y our diet!
if you wait till your hungry to eat you have waited to long..that is like filling up when your e light goes on in your car..and all you are burning is the sh1t gas settles in your fuel system..your body is the same way
Congratulations, you are doing a great job! Make sure those walks are brisk. Exercise your arms and legs and get your blood pumping. Make sure to invest in good sneakers and arch support to help prevent injury. Incorporate other exercises specific to areas of your body that you want to reduce or convert.

I don't like waiting until I'm hungry to eat because that is usually when I overeat. Set regular meal times but vary menus throughout the week to ensure sufficient balance.

Most people eat a light breakfast, moderate lunch and a generous dinner. I would prefer a heavy breakfast and lite dinner (eaten as early in the evening as possible because eating close to bedtime interferes with digestion).

burn baby burn those calories!
It's okay, but it's better to eat 6 small meals throughout the day to keep the metabolism chugging. Eat 3 small regular meals and 3 meal replacement bars/shakes inbetween. I get mine at: http://dhuizinga.qhealthzone.com
Let me know- Thanks

The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:

*1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity. Get a diet and fitness calculator that you can put on your computer or cell phone. This will allow you to easily calculate this formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.

*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.

Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as white potatoes) and drink lots of water.

Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Here is an excellent food pyramid that anyone can follow: http://www.rayandterry.com/html/images/PyramidLRG.gif?osCsid=26a424be471d1337e7c2f105d5c64d9d

*3) Exercise on most days by doing cardiovascular training and/or resistance training activities.

Read a book or find a certified trainer to make sure your doing all resistance training exercises correctly. A great book to buy that teaches you the resistance training basics is “Weight Training for Dummies”. A superb magazine to buy with resistance training routines that will not get you bored is "Muscle and Fitness". Signup for the free newsletter. An excellent free online resource is at http://www.exrx.net/

A good book to buy that teaches you the cardiovascular training basics is “Fitness for Dummies”.

*4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.

*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A superb book to read is “You The Owner’s Manual”. An excellent periodic publication is the “Nutrition Action Health Letter”. A reputable test you can take to measure your biological age is at http://realage.com
