what is the best work out for my calves that i can do at home?

Question:

Answers:
squat all the way down with your derriere just above the floor and walk in a squated position as if you were pretending to be a duck and walk walk walk in that squatted position. You'll quickly start feeling your calves working hard. Also, if you lift your body in a controlled manner, with your metatarsals (on your tip toes) like in ballet, that works your calves as well. Your toes should be pointing outward not forward (think ballet positions -this would be first position). Hold our glutes, abs and the rest of your body up don't relax them and always keep your body controlled. Push yourself up from your calves and metatarsals. I hope I described these excersices enough to where you understand what I mean. Good luck!

lunges are good. pilates too

work out like i do

easiest thing is to bend at the knees with your toes elevated on say a couple of books of the same thickness.

Stand straight and then lift up onto your toes.

if you hold free-weights in your hands then you'll build bulk, if you use no weights then you'll tone and strengthen

Stand on the edge of something, like stairs. Stand on the edge of a step with only your toes being on the step. Move in an up-down manner. This will make your calves work. Carrying a dumbell or two makes it more of an intense workout. ok here's one my husband does for pt in the mornings (hes in the army) to start.stand up.go from standing on your tip toes to coming back down almost touching your heels on the floor but dont. then do it again. i hope i explained it good enough. if not email me and i will try again. thats the best exercise that i have ever done with my legs. i use to run cross country and track and its better than lunges

lunges, walking, and raises which you stand and raise up and down on yr toes. pilates and yoga have some handy tips as well. might find some handy tips in here, i found my work out plan from it>>
