now, mental fatigue is taking the best of me. its a drag to get myself to the gym and coffee is not working as well. any suggestions?

I totally understand buddy, I've been doing it for more than 20 years, with back, knee, ankle, shoulder, arm and wrist traumas. And sometimes I just want to give it up too, however "injuries heal", and I always think of all the "time and effort" I put into it.
And that is what gives me the incentive not to quit. (Iv'e gone this far, why quit now)
You are probalbly totally burned out on it, and/or possibly "Overtrained" (nervous system is fatigued from training too much).
Best thing to do is take a break from it for a month or two, and then just train less frequently, (2 times a week) to start, and then when you get back into it (you will, if it is your passion) then you can go back to your normal workouts and be into it again.

Coffee is only going to slow you down after the intial kick wears off. Coffee will dehydrate your body and make you feel tired after the caffeine buzz is gone. Try eating lots of proteins and friut. Try to devote at least 6-8 hrs of sleep per night. And also drink at least 8 glasses of water per day.
you just need to mix it up a little hire a trainer and change up your routine a bit, try something new that always helps. good luck
well as a martial artist i know quite a bit about the mental side of things. Find the reason why you go...why do you go to the gym? Obviously to get in shape for most people...find out why you go. Use that for yourself. I find when my mind tells me I'm too tired to do something such as go work out...I go anyway because it makes me feel better once I'm there, and out. Life is wasted at home watching TV.
Maybe find another way to work out, maybe you are getting bored of the same thing for ten years..
Find your motivation, and use it!

Your body cannot take the punishment to the joints, ligaments, and tendons when you get older. Take a couple weeks off to recharge yourself and to avoid burn out. I have been lifting weights for 25 years.
