Calling all Doctors and Nurses! What should I do?

Question:
Ok so i know i'm a little overweight. I've always been "big" but mostly because i worked out a lot for football and basketball. 4 years ago it was mostly all muscle w/ a thin layer of fat. Now i'm no longer playing basketball or football but just throwing shot put and discus for varsity track and field. My question/concern is how can i lose the weight i need to lose to get me to be a more healthier person and still maintain my strength for my events. Also it's a good thing for you to know that i've been cutting down on how much i eat *more often and less amount* and drinking tons and tons of water. This is really hard to stay away from sweets/junk food because both my parents are overweight and they love sweet/junk food. They have been known to refuse to buy fruit unless chocolate was on sale so they could do chocolate covered fruit. I really want to lose weight but i find it incredibly hard to not give in to temptations. I'm also not supposed to run on my ankle, it's sprained. Help!

Answers:
Well it already looks like your well on you way to a healthier lifestyle. The first thing you need to do is talk to your Parents and tell them that you are not happy with your size and would like to loose weight. Tell them that you dont expect them to go on the diet with you but you would appreciate if they bought some healthier foods. If your not supposed to be on your ankle try some pilates or yoga it is good for you and not a high impact excercise. The main thing I can tell you is to stay away from processed sugars, any and all white breads, and carbination. Also be sure to measure your carbohydrate intake to make sure you not replacing calories with carbs. Also you might want to contact a dietician for further tips.
