I'm kind of the same, although for me is buns and thighs. What's worked for me is a combination of weights and cardio. I'm not talking about killing my self but doing challenging routines consistently. My latest find: do the cardio after the weights (I'm talking results!).
I do all my workouts at home with dumbells and a couple of cardio dvds.
I suggest you visit www.self.com. They have great strength routines that you can do at home with minimum equipment. As for the cardio, find something that you like and makes you break a sweat or just walk fast for say 20 min and build it up from there.
