Any dance will help, even ballet, as all are exercise, but the more active the faster it will help you lose the weight.

So flaminco would really be good.
Anything high energy like salsa or the like. My friend lost 87 pounds doing bellydance (now she teaches it) and she has the most amazing abs!

any form of exercise will cut calories, and in turn....inches.

But I would reccomend anything that a "quick" type of ballroom...for example, any S. American dances fit there.

Also, swing dancing...especially east coast...will destroy any excess baggage you may be carrying. It's very uptempo and cardiovascularly designed.

Lastly, capoeira, hip hop, and breakdancing will not only work muscles you didn't know you had, but they're highly energetic as well...(and you don't neccescarily need a partner for them.)

It works your abs, hips, and butt. It's a combination of smoothly rocking your midsection, and focusing on certain parts of your body, while leaving the others still.
Salsa or hustle. But then again, that's only based on my limited experience. Unless you dance several hours a day, your weight loss will be minimal.

Your dancing should be coupled with a change in diet (smaller portions, whole wheat and nuts over white bread, chicken and fish over meat, eating in small portions every 3-4 hours.)

Dancing by itself will not lead to notieable weight loss for the majority of people unless it's done about 3 hours or more per day :(
