does crunches hurt your stomach the day after?

Question:
My stomach hurts so bad, i exercised last night for the first time in a long time, could crunches be it, i also have killer headache?

Answers:
I started working my abdominal area for 30 min. daily and i was sore for two days straight but around the 3 day it doesnt hurt anymore afterwards. Keep in mind that you need to lose the fat first in order to have a more toned stomach. Just do this while watching tv. Eating healthy could play a role. But I dont like doing that. If you're like me, then drink loads of water and eat normal but not too much. Eat fruits once in a while. Helps alot.

Other Answers:
I don't know, does they?

muscle ache from using the muscle for the first time. haha ya if u do enuff of them, the headache part u mite wanna contact a doctor cuz tahts not normal

It could be that you are not doing them right. I always take an Aleve when I workout and haven't done so in a while. Watch some fitness shows to make sure you are doing them correctly if you can't afford a gym membership

Well if you are doing the crunches and actually using your ab muscles to do them then yes you will probably be sore but I don't know about the headache.

When I do them correctly i get a little sore. But i'm a big cheater so that rarely happens Yes your stomach hurts the day after. Actually, it should be sore. Not throbbing pain. If you don't excercise for a while, it always is hard to start again.

the first few days, after words its just like drinking coffee, a daily habit.

When you overwork your muscles, there's a build-up of lactic acid. Soreness and tenderness is the result. You may be even more sore tomorrow, but it should start wearing off after that. Take it easy in the beginning, to avoid being in pain! Build up slowly and you'll experience less sore-/tender-ness.

If you do them to the point that the muscles in your stomach produce enough lactic acid to make them feel sore. Don't worry it'll go away. Try stretching and twisting your abdomen to help it go away faster, all you did was overwork the muscles in your stomach. Eventually your body will build up endurance in that area so you can do more without it hurting. Don't do them again until the pain subsides. It may take another day or 2. After that, get back on it. Once you get into a regular routine you won't have anymore pain after working out. The pain you're now feeling in your abdomen is completely normal for someone who hasn't worked out in a while. I don't know about the head ache.

If it's been a while then yes but constant workouts are key to not feeling the pain.

they can make your abdominal muscles sore, but there is a difference between soreness & hurt. The headache may be because you're dehydrated. Did you drink enough fluids before, after, and during your exercising?

No muscle should hurt after exercises. Gradually
build up the difficulty of the exercises over several weeks and
you will see great results. Also the principle of weight loss
and muscle definition is first on and last off. You may be doing
crunches for a long time with little results.
