Should I worry about calories or just proportions?
Question:
Answers:
Portion size is a good thing to take care off if you spilt up a normal sized plate half should be veg/salad, quater should be meat and the other quater should be carbs. Shouldn't have to pile up a plate with food either. Obvouisly calories are important too, no point breaking food into portions if one portion is 200 cals!
Make sure you eat the right things and the portioning will be good enough. Website below where the calories of most foods are listed.
Exercise at leat 3 times a week as well.

Worry about your genes. What do your parents look like?
YES BECAUSE THE FOOD WE EAT IS MEASURED IN CALORIES AND NOT QUANTITY.

wow, you're big. i'm a guy, 5'10 and 150 lbs, and i dont look thin, i have what they say lean muscles. so you gotta lose weight, indeed. If youre already eating small portions, then i think its in the genes. or you should exercise more often, not too strenuous, but more often.
Do NOT listen to that guy! You are VERY tall, 165 is a perfectly acceptable weight! You do want to watch portions, and what you are eating as well. But do not deprive yourself. Just eat those bad foods in moderation. I don't think you need to watch calories-you're young and in a healthy weight range. Just try to make good food choices and make sure exercise is part of your daily routine.
Your BMI is 23, which is normal. You are not considered overweight until it hits 25. Are you athletic? If so I bet most of that is muscle weight. I am 5'7" and weigh 145, but am very athletic, and have long muscular legs. I am a size 7 which is far from fat. I am sure you are beautiful just the way you are. Don't worry so much about fitting into a size 2. Someone your height would probably look silly if they were that thin!
your weight is fine. Vital statics should be corrected by aerobics for 1 hour daily

You really should look at both. You are on the right track by eating small portions. Check out www.mypyramid.gov to create an eating plan ideal for your calorie level.
Calories should be your focus instead of portion size! Weight loss is simple. Calories in minus the calories used in a day. If you use more calories than you consume or take in you will lose weight. Some foods you can have a rather large portion of and still lose weight, others, even a small portion will contain hundreds of calories. So, in short, counting calories is a pain but well worth it. For a few days record what you eat, along with calories consumed and then cut that number back a lil at a time. Simple, but it works! Hope I could help.
just have a proper diet to exercise plan

I would not worry so much about actual calories. It is the quality of calories that you eat. Foods that are not high in fat, have moderate carbohydrates, and good source of protein. At your age, you should get good results. Good luck!
