Question:

Answers:
they work equally well on different muscle groups... if i'm not mistaken.

Other Answers:
Fingertips Facing away because it works the muscles on the outside of your body, which u use more.
These work completely different parts of your body. You should do both.
do em both ways.. it'll work both sides of the muscles
Work 'em all (all that ya can) do both...and bravo you because I can't do a chinup to save my life..wimpy chick arms and all that...LOL!
when your hands face out (back of hands towards you) you work more back muscles, the other way around you work more chest muscles, but overall the ones that work the back muscles do more for you
Depends on what muscles you are trying to work the most. When you do chin ups with your palms facing you, then your biceps do most of the work. However, if you do chin ups with you palms away from you then your back and tricep muscles do more of the work.

I was in the USMC for 20 years and we did pull-ups as part of our physical training. I would recommend palms facing away from you, less chance of injury and more muscles worked. Also lower your body until the elbows lock/relax. When you go up do not use any swinging or kicking motion and make sure your chin goes over the bar. 20 pull ups is excellent for the Marine Corps, if you can do the same as your age that is great. To increase your total trying a pyramid program. Example: Do a set of 5 pull ups -- 5, then 4, 4, 3, 2, 2 repetitions for 4 times a weeks. Good for beginners. Good luck
Using a hand facing you incorporates more abdominal, biceps, rhomboids (mid back) and fora rm flexors muscles. Using the hand facing away incorporates more posterior (rear) shoulder muscles, but both use the latisimus dorsi (back muscles). The benefit of away is that it is more functional in climbing surfaces such as rock climbing, yet the hands facing use more muscles groups so that it is a slightly better movement for mass gain in beginners. So basically using both will be better than favoring just one.
