Does drinking too much water harm your body?

Question:
I drink at least 64 oz. daily, but I feel thirsty most of the time. What could be wrong.

I do not do drugs, smoke or alcoholic beverages, so those are not the cause!

Answers:
Have you been tested for Diabetes? A sign of diabetes is being excessive thirsty. Also, what part of the country you live in makes a difference. If you live in Alabama where it is hot and humid then you need to drink more water.

A person can drink too much water and die. It is not so much the amount of the water but how fast. Check the websites below for more information

Other Answers:
same with me, its not a problem dont worry bout it, in fact the less you have the oppurtunity to drink water the less you will need to.

no it just make you have to go to the bathroom more that's all That is alot of water! Can't your cells absorb too much water, and you literally drown? How old are you? That is a sign of diabetes. Let your dr know.

too much of anything isnt good for you. are you active? being active makes me thirsty and stuff like that. u could be pregnant, who knows?

How much water are you talking about. 64 ounces

LC

Only if you were to gulp down gallons at a time-say within minutes. I believe a young man died when his college buddies made him drink to much water as a part of college initiation. But it's safe to say you won't be doing that and several glasses a day should be fine for your health sake. :)

If you are drinking 64 ozs a day and you are still thirsty, you may want to get a test for diabetes. Do you also drink caffeine throughout the day, because if you do, you are still dehydrating yourself despite the 64 ozs of water. Salty foods can make you feel thirsty as well. If you live in a hot climate like mine (its 105 degrees here today), you may need more than 64 ozs per day.

Yes, you CAN drink too much water.

Drinking water is excellent for your body. However, an excessive(this would be in extreme amounts!) amount of water is dangerous. Having an incredible amount of water in your body causes your body to have seizures. However, if I were you, I would not worry about drinking too much. Any infromartion I have said above could be wrong so please forgive me if this is so. Have your doctor check for Diabetes.

Yes. you can actually die from drinking too much water. I forget what it is called but is known as hydrautic intoxication. Too much water will overwhelm your bodies organs.
I don't know how mush water you would have to drink to develop this condition, but I do know that 64 0zs per day, depending on your weight, is the recommended amount. you may want to see a doctor to check for kidney or other issues.

Yes, it is possible to drink too much water and create a condition called hyponatremia (too little sodium). You would have to drink a gallon in an hour to make this happen, however.

Excessive thirst is a common symptom of diabetes. If there is any chance you could be at risk, get your fasting blood sugar checked.

There is such thing as water poisoning. I'm not sure how much water is too much but yes it can harm or even kill you to drink to much.
