Where did the words Barbell and Dumbell originate from.?
Question:
Answers:
Well, barbell is pretty self-evident: you have a bar that when you have old-style metal weights on it, makes a clanging noise reminiscent of a bell. Hence bar-bell!
I'm not so sure about dumbell but I like to think it may have something to do with the stereotype of muscle-bound morons. ;)
