Are high proteins diets harmless?

Question:

Answers:
No they can cause kidney failure and other problems. Moderation is the key.
like they say. everything in moderation
Not if you load up on red meat and fatty protiens. Your body also needs carbs for energy. You should focus on eating healthier, like whole grains and no white stuff (potatoes, white breads, etc.). Ultimately, living healthier will help you lose the weight and keep it off better than an all protien no carb diet.
they are if you work out and exercise after you started it but if you just have the diet then yes it will become harmful since you'll start to gain more and more weight
not totally, your kidneys have a small problem with all the protein. and if you are not getting enough carbs, your body lacks fuel.
no they are not healthy
It is good if it's balance.
i guess but always take in moderation.
In a word, no. Protein consumed beyond need is merely stored as bodyfat if not burned as an energy source. If protein is used as the primary energy source in the diet, you can expect a severe rise in blood nitrogen levels, leading to nice little nasties like kidney stones, urinary tract infections, and yes, kidney failure. If such a diet is followed with the intent of increasing muscle tissue (an Arnold wanna-be at the gym suggested it), it won't provide it: Muscle tissue is only 22% protein, roughly 33 grams per pound. The majority (70%) is water. Protein taken above need is simply wasted protein.

Presently, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recommends .80 grams per kilo (2.2lbs) of bodyweight, whether you're athletic or not. Anyone telling you differently either IS a salesman, or fell victim to one in the past.
Excess protein can cause osteoporosis.
