weight confusion?

Assuming that your scale is correct, a low reading means only that you HAVE lost weight. A high reading means that you have gained weight. If it never says the same (or close to the same) as other scales, then the scale is faulty and should be replaced. This is the most likely explanation.
However, if you truly do lose or gain five pounds in a day or two, you need to tell your doctor. It can be a sign of your body not handling fluids as it should. This can be caused by a number of conditions, some of which are serious, some of which aren't. But if your body is mishandling fluids for any reason, it can become serious if not dealt with. We are "big bags of mostly water." So if we can't move that water in and out properly, it's a problem.
You cannot get more muscles in your chest. But you *can* strengthen and enlarge the ones you have with regular weight training. It will take about 6 weeks to see a difference. It's hard work, and you shouldn't begin it without someone to help you who knows what they are doing. If you want to see some exercises that build up the chest, look here:

Always weight yourself the same time of day. Mornings are good before you have anything to eat or drink.
Cheap bathroom scales can be off 10-15 lbs for weights over 200 lbs. If you want an accurate weight meaurement you'll have to find a doctor's office scale and weigh in with the same amount of clothing everytime. I always do it first thing in the morning so I don't have a day's worth of food in me.
