Are there any exercises to help strengthen my knees?

Question:
I need to build back up the strength in my knees. I have lost weight and I don't have the tone in them that I did at one time. My knees are always giving out on me too.

Answers:
You need to do some research. You can't strengthen your 'knees' the way you mean. Your knees are a joint. You can strengthen the muscles around your knees to stabilize them. Focus on your quads as they can help the health of your knees. Consider getting physical therapy or a personal trainer to help you with your problems. If there is an underlying medical condition, it can be aggrevated by random answers given here.

I think swimming and stair stepping is good.
And I mean like a stair stepper, so there is resitance to your knees. It may hurt at first but slowly you'll build up your strength again.
And your back, you may just need to get more active is all.
RIDE YOUR BIke EVERY DAY FOR HALF AN HOUR !! Up as many hills as possible!
cycling or spinning at a local health club.
I THINK SQUATS!! AND IT TONES UR BUM!

You need to do a lot of stretches and anything that builds the muscle in your legs will also build up your knees. Just like walking, or cycling..no running though, that is too strenuous.
run some miles in your neighborhood! don't outdo yourself just run around 2 miles everyday. it won't be that hard!!
Bicycling is an excellent exercise for that. It is low impact. I have rhuematoid arthritis and I ride my bike to keep my legs in shape without the impact. Since your sitting on your butt, you dont have to worry about your knees giving out on you either.
You can lie down on your back and slowly bring your leg up (hold for ten seconds) and than put it back down, do same to the other leg..at least about 10 for each.
