could someone please help me with a good diet for lowering cholesterol?

Question:
i have just been told i have high cholesterol reading of 7 and hight blood pressure

Answers:
Here are some excellent ways to lower your cholesterol:

1. Start to exercise! Cardio exercise can lower your bad "LDL" cholesterol and increase your good "HDL" cholesterol.

2. Stay away from saturated fats and trans fats. Saturated fat raises your bad cholesterol. Trans fat raise bad cholesterol AND lower good cholesterol. Saturated fat is in fatty animal products (bacon, higher fat cuts of beef, hamburgers, fast food) as well as many cakes, cookies, and packaged goods. Trans fat is mainly in processed packaged goods and cakes. READ LABELS!

3. Try to cut back your meat intake. Cholesterol is only found in foods from animals. Try to avoid egg yolks (contain A LOT of cholesterol--the whites are okay) and fatty animal products. Try egg substitute and lean cuts of poultry. In the meantime, increase your fruit, vegetable, and whole grain intake.

4. Really focus on soluble fiber. Soluble fiber binds cholesterol and takes it out of the body causing the liver to pull cholesterol ( the bad kind) from the blood in order to increase its supply. A good source of soluble fiber is oatmeal. Try a bowl every morning!

5. Cinnamon has been shown to have a positive effect in lowering cholesterol. Mix a lot in with that oatmeal!

6. Genetics could also play a role in cholesterol--I have high cholesterol and I am a very active personal trainer who does not eat red meat, egg yolk, or many animal products. It just happens!!

7. Potassium has a positive effect on blood pressure. Try to increase your intake of greens (spinach, chard, or kale) and fruits to help lower your blood pressure.

8. STAY AWAY FROM EXCESS SODIUM. No more than 2,400 mg a day!

GOOD LUCK TO YA!

you should stay away from fried foods and if you don't eat oatmeal you should eat one bowl full everyday
Add a garlic supplement to your diet. Garlic lowers cholesterol very well, and as a on the side bonus it will strengthen your immune system too. Just beware though, if uyou start having problems with really thin blood stop taking garlic thats a notehr side effect it has.
