Question:
I do plan to exercise while on this "diet".
And I even plan to go on supplements to ensure that I atleast get some kind of nutrients.
Answers:
Read this excerpt from the book "Dieting for Dummies" by Jane Kirby: "Don't cut your calorie level drastically when trying to lose weight; this strategy will backfire. Your body is programmed to defend your usual weight, so when calories are cut severely - to fewer than 800 to 1,000 a day - your metabolic rate adjusts to conserve the few calories you do give your body."
In order words, your metabolism will slow down and you will stop losing weight (body thinks it's in a famine so it tries to store calories). Once you get off this diet and start eating regularly you will start gaining weight (body thinks it needs to store more calories for next famine). The protective function of the human body is to survive.
The following healthy living recommendations will help you if you’re trying to lose weight, tone up your muscles, have aspirations of building lean muscle mass, are attempting to get a wash board stomach, or just want to feel better:
*1) Burn more calories then you're consuming everyday and measure your results using the following formula: Calories Consumed minus Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) minus Physical Activity minus the Thermic Effect of Food (TEF). A website that explains this formula in more detail and will help you determine how many calories you need to reach or maintain a certain weight is at http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/library/weight/calsburned.htm
Get an online, desktop, or cell phone diet and fitness calculator. This will allow you to easily calculate the above formula, set goals, log your daily calorie consumption, and register your physical activities.
Set realistic goals for your ideal body weight. Here are two websites that will calculate a suggested body weight:

Teens/Children: http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/exercise/weight/bmi.html
It is difficult and unhealthy to lose more than one or two pounds per week. There are 3,500 calories in a pound. If you eat 500 fewer calories per day for a week you will lose one pound. If you burn through exercise 500 more calories per day for a week you will lose one pound.

*2) Eat natural and organic foods found on earth versus something created by a corporation to make money. Eat meals in small portions throughout the day and take a good multi-vitamin supplement.
Do not try fad diets or diet pills. Avoid “High Glycemic Load Carbs” (sugar, pastries, desserts, refined starches such as breads, pasta, refined grains like white rice; high starch vegetables such as potatoes) and drink lots of water. Read this article for more information on high GL Carbs:

*4) Get plenty of sleep. Sleep experts say most adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night for optimum performance, health, and safety.
*5) Educate yourself continually on health issues and make a life long commitment to good health. A great free publication is “Dietary Guidelines for Americans 2005”. A reputable test you can take to measure your biological age is at http://realage.com
Look at all areas where you can enhance your health. For example, make improvements in the quality of the air you breathe. Review outdoor air quality forecasts where you live and get an indoor air purifier.

Other Answers:
I'm gonna have to say no.
you might lose weight
but it wont work
I think it will work in the short term. If you are taking supplements to ensure you won't pass out from lack of nutrients, then you will probably lose weight. However, i bet the urge to cheat will increase exponentially every week you are on the diet.
Why Jello?? Why not carrots or something like that.
Jello will probably work though. It is basically sugar and water. It should provide a small dose of energy and you will stay hydrated.
Sure, after making you extremely sick.
Be sure and use sugar free jello!
And let me know if it works- at least as a good jump start!
Good Luck!
that's for sure you'll lose weight, but I don't give you 2 weeks to get into and hospital after fainting or beeing dehydrated or exausted or whatever. Supplements won't cover up for all the carbs ( that you need for exercise ), the proteins or everything else you won't eat.
And by the way, at one point, by not eating, your body will try to protect itself by keeping the fat. And when you'll start eating normally again, your body will keep all the fat you'll eat for a while because it'll be "scared" that you'll crash again.
yes it will work, but only if you burn more calories than you eat by exercising or moving around or whatever. but healthy eating is realllllly important. you might get sick of all the sugar and your body wont function well without many nutrients.
u can loosee weight in at leaast
101 ways, diets, ur jelo whatever inlcuded,
u need to be thinking on a long term plan hwo to keepp it off
95 procent who losee waigth gain it back
soo unless u find a strategy how to keep it off, any diet plan,
is usless seens u will be gaining it back faster then u lost, *** soon as ur done dieting
For some reason, a friend of mine is doing this as well. She eats about a box of it per day. I have not seen any apparent improvement and seems like there are a lot of days where she cheats on the diet. It is just not realistic.
This will not work
Make sure you get the sugar-free Jello. Jello loaded with sugar will not help you.
Then search diligently for Jello with nutrients, sufficient to sustain healthy life - because supplements will NOT do it.
If you can't find nutritious Jello - then don't try this diet - it won't work. What you are proposing is a starvation diet - which actually slows down your metabolism - so that it is yet harder to loose weight, while you are depriving yourself of necessary nutrients -- this is a good formula for getting sick.
The other problem with starvation as a diet alternative, is that once you start eating again you are most likely to gain all of your weight back, or possibly more.
Better to go on a true diet + exercise plan - otherwise you will not accomplish your goal.
To answer your question, NO, a jello diet won't help you. This sort of diet is used with patients who need to drop weight in a hurry to slim down for a life-saving operation. As soon as you stop a jello diet, the weight will come back. You should aim to lose 5 to 8 lbs. per month, certainly no more than 10. You don't even need to change your diet. Eat five to six SMALL meals per day. The first four or five meals should have lots of fruit, grains, and vegetables. Your last meal of the day can be pretty large, and you can have whatever meat you like. I also recommend a supplement, "CLA," or "Flax Oil." You can find it at GNC and at WalMart for certain. Follow the directions on the flax oil, but no more than five gel caps per day - you just can't use that much. The only other rules I have are these:
1. No fast food. If you think it might be fast food, don't eat it.
2. Nothing fried - that means french fries, fried chicken, etc.
3. No sweets or junk food. If it's in a "little debbie" wrapper, you shouldn't be eating it. That means no candy bars, ho-ho's, snow-balls, snickers, butterfingers, etc.
4. No pop, soda, cola, or energy drinks. These are filled to the brim with high fructose corn syrup which turns almost immediately into inches around your waist. NO SODAS, but if you must, you can have sprite or sierra mist once or twice a week. This prohibition includes all varieties of diet drinks, which are even worse for your body.
5. NO BEER, WINE, LIQUOR, SPIRITS, OR ALCOHOL.
6. No coffe - it just isn't good for you.
7. Buy some good whey protein. I don't mean weight-gainer formula, not creatine, not hot rocks, not ripped fuel - I mean just plain, simple, whey protein. You can go cheap, that's ok, but if you can afford it, I recommend a whey protein with the lowest possible saturated fat content. The less saturated fat, the better it is. Two of your meals should include 1/3 cup of whey powder mixed with water, NOT JUICE OR MILK. Depending on your weight and dietary needs, you may need more or less whey. The rule here is to take enough whey to satiate your hunger for two and half or three hours. I weigh 168 lbs. and I need 1/3 of a cup of whey mixed with 10 to 12 oz. water to fill me up.
8. Take a good once or twice a day multivitamin. Check your local GNC and talk to a sales rep to find what works best for your needs. Make sure you get one with extracts of fruit to fight free-radicals. You should also make sure you get enough vitamin D, since you won't drink a lot of milk and you always need strong bones.
In case you think this diet doesn't work, I'm a martial artist, 1st degree black belt, instructor of songahm-style taekwondo. I took some prescriptions for a couple years that changed my metabolism, so I when I started coming down from the drugs, I started this diet. I've used this diet to come down from 215 lbs. to 168 lbs., losing over 45 lbs., and still falling. I plan on making about 164 by September 8th, in time for my next major competition. I started this diet in November of 2005, so keep in mind that you need to keep track of your weight loss each month or else you won't notice a difference right away. Keep up your efforts, and I know you'll get the weight you want.
if you eat less calories than your body burns (through being alive, lifestyle, and intentional exercise), you will lose weight.
that's 90% of it. the last 10% is your metabolism, which will slow down if you do something too extreme for too long a time period.
it's that simple. anyone who tells you otherwise is just trying to sell you something.
(or, is afraid of being sued for telling you to do something, which may actually be potentially unhealthy OR may simply differ from the extremely-biased FDAs nutritional guidelines, which are funded by certain brands and industries either directly or through research dollars)
