what's the best way to grind flaxseed?

Question:
Ground flaxseed is supposed to be good for you on many different levels, or so I read almost everywhere. I've found a source (obligatory "Yay! Whole Foods!") and now I need to grind it.

The three most common ways I've heard is to use a coffee grinder, a pepper mill or other spice grinder, or to buy it pre-ground.

I'd like to grind it myself, but am leaning towards the spice grinder since it seems to require less cleaning although it might take a while to grind.

What do you use to grind your flaxseeds? How do you rate it on mess / convenience / speed?

Answers:
i grind my flaxseed in the coffee grinder. it's not hard to clean and works fabulously.
works the best for "less mess"/convenience and speed. hope that helps.

Other Answers:
Spice grinder works just fine. Very efficient and not that messy.

A Morter and Pestle I use a coffee grinder. It's a bit of a pain to clean it, but if I happen to leave some flax seed residue in it, my coffee just has a little added dose of fiber. ;-)

I buy mine pre-ground, it's just waaaaay easier. Barring that, I have a coffee grinder, and it works great for that.
