My husband and I are interested in doing yoga. What beginner tapes would you suggest? Why?

Question:

Answers:
My favorite is Stress-Relief Yoga with Suzanne Deason. It's a short, easy one. It doesn't explain a lot about positions, but it's really nice. If you're interested in learning about the different positions and how to do them, Yoga for Dummies is pretty good, too!

Other Answers:
I purchased all the yoga tapes and books and only used them once or never used them. There are too many disitractions in most homes. Go to a class intead.or get a yoga instructor come to your home..
Good luck

Richard Simmons dance groove. Hi , Rodney Yee has a good beginners yoga dvd, and also in cludes more advanced yoga as you go on

You can both start by getting comforttable in the lotus position. The, in a few weeks when you are used to having your legs crossed that way, start lifting up your body in a lotus position and walk across the room on your arms and hands. When you get to the point it is easy, then get a video tape or small yoga book from a buddist temple, or library. Don't spend your money on internet fads. Take care. - T

There are different schools of yoga, and it depends on whether you want to do yoga for flexibility, meditation, or some of those advanced methods, which I always viewed as too painful, I would tend to agree with the other answer given I would seek out a place with a few students, it is very quiet, healthy and relaxing, but every book that I have picked up starts out with getting the breathing down which of course is extremely important, and I would think it would be much easier taking a class, then you know if you are doing everything properly.

Good to hear that you are interested in Yoga, the time tested science presented by India to the universe.

I suggest you please do not depend on tapes. Instead you attend the classes of the trained masters. Yoga is eight fold, Yama, Niyama, Prathyahara, Dhararana, Dhyana, Asana, Pranayama and Samadhi. You should have the knowledge in these eight folds. Unless you attend the classes you can not get the clear idea of all these things.

So, kindly learn from the masters.
