Bad back after running?

Question:
I enjoy running but i keep getting a bad back afterwards, at the base of my spine area(small of back). I even stopped running for two months and have now started again but it appears the problem is coming back. I wear good comfortable running shoes, run on good surface, and dont say anything about doctor i tried that and he looked at me as if i was lying. Any ideas of what could cause this and how i can heal it?

Answers:
Running is a very high-impact activity on your body. One thing that you can do, and this sounds strange, but it can alleviate a lot of lower back pain as a result of running and other activities, is to do some light weight training exercises. Supplement the running with weight-bearing exercise, and a lot of the pain should decrease.

You can also try taking medication, but I'm sure you don't want to become dependent on that or anything. You've already done well with picking out good shoes and a good surface, by the way.

Also, there are a lot of stretching exercises you can do to strengthen the muscles in your lower back. In the "sources" section, I'm giving you some links to check out to show some different stretches and things you can do to help. Good luck!

This what happened to me about 2.5 years ago. If you are large frame person as myself, it is not recommended to run but walk or even cycle. Stepper is good.

Drink mineral water as according to your body weight (email me) and add fresh vegetable juice - do it to yourself

Hi, This sounds to me like you have a trapped nerve. When you run the bones in your spine move forwards and backwards thus trapping the nerve and then making it feel sore and bruised afterwards. The best person to go and see is a Chiropractor. They will be able to un trap the nerve by putting your spine back in the right place- please give this a go as they are brilliant and it will stop any further damage being caused. Use ibroleve gel after running and always warm up and down. Good luck xx If the pain is in your lower back, with a shooting pain down your leg, it is probably sciatica, there isn't a cure for it, I was just given Ibuprofen for it. Do you run or jog? If you jog, I know this can jar your spine, so, stop jogging and start running properly, if you already run properly, just do it in short bursts instead of a lot in one go. If that doesn't help go to a different doctor (you do have the right to a second opinion), if they aren't any help go to an acupuncturist.
