well, yeah on both counts. coughing puts extra stress on your ab's that you probably aren't used to and it could result in toning your stomach a little like doing crunches.
Coughing seriously works the muscles of your diaphragm. It is like doing a couple of crunches every time you cough. So yes you can pull a muscle, especially if you are a little unfit.
You probably haven't lost any weight around you lower stomach, it is just that your muscles are becoming toned.
Great way to get effortless exercise.
Yes, you can pull a muscle. And no, you won't lose weight- Though you will get sore!

Try drinking something hot and steaming: There have been a few times when that was the only way I could stop coughing.
I hope you don't smoke.Coughing for a week could be allergies, or something more serious. The only things you could do by coughing so much is to pull a muscle, or develop a hernia. Please see a doctor ASAP!
