what is a good way to prevent chaffing, while walking long distances in hot weather?
Question:
Answers:
Get boxer brief style underwear. I don't know what the equivalent for women is. Biker shorts type.
That will get rid of seams around your crotch and give less things to rub.
Other Answers:
Get a diaper rash cream that is good I know it sounds silly but it will work.
next time just drive
This may sound weird but it worked for me. I put deodorant (the solid white kind) on my thights where it was rubbing and chaffing.
The itch comes from circulation. That's a GOOD thing! That lets you know that your blood is moving to eliminate the fat cells
Stick deodarant works wonders on chaffing. Try it I have to give it to my son for the exact thing. Just an old school remedy.
Put on powder before you walk. And shower right after your walk.

After cleaning the area with warm soap and water, apply a thin layer of antiperspirant deoderant to the area. Do not to wear nylon underwear--cotton is better.

when i was a young man i enlisted in the army june 1 1972. it was very hot and humid in ft jackson s. c. and we walked and ran many miles a day during basic training.we were issued boxer underwear and the legs were very loose causing chafing of the inner thigh.
Everything the others have said works (deoderant, zinc ointment), but also, use shorts or yoga pants that wick moisture away from your skin. These are man-made fabrics like Under Armour, but there are less expensive brands. Even Target carries them. 100% Cotton is good for shirts, but it does not wick moisture away. The trapped moisture chafes and irritates. Also drink tons of water.
That helps skin stay hydrated, and also helps you lose weight! Sounds counterintuitive, but dry skin chafes worse when you sweat!
I have discovered that the old fashion remedies work the best, and I know because I am allergic to heat and often get chaffed. When that happens, all I do is coat the area with a good helping of (Vaseline) for a day, till it starts to heal, then after it starts to feel back to normal, I dust the entire area with (Cornstarch)! It is not a talc, but it has been used as a dusting powder to absorb moisture since pioneer days, it is wonderful! When my face breaks out, I put a little cornstarch on my face before bed and in the morning, the zits are all dried up and most are gone too! I love the stuff! It is natural and harmless, mothers often dust their babies with it! (It also makes great homemade pudding)! Read the box! It is also very cheap! One box lasts a long time! Another thing I use it for is when my bangs look a little oily or wilted, I run a little cornstarch through my hair, brushing vigorously to remove any cornstarch residue, and within minutes it looks like it was freshly washed! That stuff is so cool! Through the years, I've gotten most of my friends and family to use it too! Another thing my mom does is she loves the smell of her Emeraude dusting powder but not the price, so she mixes half the Emeraude powder with half cornstarch, that stretches the Emeraude, yet gives her all the benefits of the cornstarch and still leaves her powder with that good scent of Emeraude that my mother loves so much! You should give cornstarch a try, it's great!
