do you sweat more, the fitter you are?

Question:
i started boxing 6 months ago, and would be worn out and hardly sweat at all, now im sweating like a -------- by the time im worn out.

does being fitter mean i sweat more?

Answers:
Sweating is a regulatory process. Its main purpose is to cool the body. When your core temperature rises above a certain temperature you begin to sweat. This is the body's attempt to keep you from over heating. It is like the motor of your car when it warms up, the fan goes on to keep the motor cool. Each person has his/her own regulatory mechanism based on genetics, body size, amount of activity, etc. Some people have a very efficient system and sweat a lot with little or on activity. Some sweat very little and may lose water through their lungs. Fitness helps but it's not the governing thing. One reason why you sweat more after boxing is that you are now raising your internal temperature to a higher level than before and your body is trying to cool it down the best way it can. Also keep in mind your surroundings. The more humid the air the more you seem to sweat since the water cannot evaporate from the body very well. It just collects and makes you think you are sweating a lot.

Other Answers:
sweating more doesn't necessarily mean you are fitter, although it is probably the case here. The fact that you are sweating more means you are stronger and can work out for longer than you had done so before. So if you are boxing twice as long as when you started before you are worn out, expect twice as much sweat. It's generally a good thing.
