Don't restrict your calories too much. When you cut them back too far, your body will start looking for fat. It's designed to keep weight for times of famine, and when food is scarce (so your body thinks) it works harder to try and get you to eat.
Snack on healthy fats - almonds, cheesestrings etc., so that your body doesn't feel restricted.
Also, eat way more vegetables than most diets suggest. I eat about three cups of them at dinner, and a good big salad for lunch.
Drink lots and lots and lots of water - that in itself reduces salt cravings. Also, your body will mistake thirst for hunger, so you may be thirsty, but it feels like you're hungry.
Try not to surround yourself with the fries and nachos. It's hard to resist when they're right there. Cook more at home, and when you go grocery shopping, only get the healthy stuff! When you're out, again, drink a big glass of water, and eat a handful of almonds or sunflower seeds. It'll make it easier to resist.

Chewing gum works for me. I have something in my mouth and I am too lazy to find a trashcan or something to spit it out in.
brush your teeth and eat gum as often as you can. dont eat it..chew it. it will help fight off the cravings because your mouth will feel clean..good luck <3Gabbs
You don't have to resist food cravings. Just go for something healthy such as fruit or a vegetable. Fruit is naturally sweet.
You should try eating ice.... thats what I do and it works
try drinking a glass of water when you belly feels hungry many wrongly think its for food drink some water and see if the hunger goes away
I am on a diet too and I keep a lot of good diet drinks around or like sugar free Koolaid, Crystal Light, water etc. and when I start to crave something I get a drink and it helps me to get over my craving.
Honestly, the best thing to do is not to bring anything into your home that would satisfy your most common cravings, and to pass right by fast food restaurants.
Also, you need to assess if you really do want to lose weight. If you do, you will be much less likely to indulge those cravings.
Find foods that you like that don't set off the craving cycle. After a few days of not eating those foods, I always find that the cravings are gone unless I eat them again.
Hope that helps.
Take a multivitamin, and then realize the cravings you are having are emotional, not physical. And stop eating them.
try reading a book,go for a run, take a nap, I used hard candy when I was trying to quit smoking and it helped me out ! good luck !! also stick a sign on the re fridge of your goal weight or the dress you want or something like that to help encourage you more !!
chew on an ice cube I've tried it J-Lo does it, for me it works, but if it doesn't for you don't kill your self by doing that just alow your self to have like a small amount of what ever you are craveing that way later you don't have to big out on what ever you are craving.
Substitute something healthy for what you are craving. For example, when I crave sweets I make a fruit smoothy or eat a little ice cream. I also eat a square of very dark chocolate almost every day. Tricks your brain into feeling great and gets rid of sweet craving. Or if you crave salt, first drink a bunch of water, and if that doesn't help, eat wholesome solid food instead of junk food with lots of salt. Have meat and potatoes that aren't fried. Eat and cook in olive oil as much as possible instead of other fats because the fat in it is actually good for you and will satiate your craving for fat.
I bring veggies or fruit to work when I have a craving I eat that, it works, you just need to find some you like. The other is just limiting yourself to it, if you feel like having something sweet have a piece of hard candy that always helps.
well, I tend to get a drink cos it takes your mind off of it. Also, if your on a diet, allow yourself one thing a week, its what i do. and the thing you are craving, save it for that day. the day might come and then you realise you dont actually want it. I think if you tell yourself your not allowed it, you want it. Just say to yourself, if you want it have it, but just think if u really do want it. the answer is always the same for me, no i dont really want it.
i hope that made sense, it's really late here!
I do not fight the craving, but I do fight the urge to eat like a piggy!
When you begin a diet, yes, you have to sacrifice your favorite foods for a good start and so that you can see some success in your efforts.
But there are harmonal times I just have to have a bit of chocolate or a seriously cold Beer! When you enjoy just a little bit, you are still in control of the calories and you are rewarding yourself for the good days of sticking to your plan.
Just make sure to fight the guilt cravings caused by walking an extra block, swimming a couple more laps, adding an hour to basketball or bike riding! You might think twice next time!
Don' t resist your cravings . Use portion control by measuring out the amount stated as one serving on the package. Allow yourself to indulge at the end of the day of that ONE item that you carefully measured. This will give you incentive to eat right the rest of the day and help prevent binge eating on forbidden foods. Dieting is really about portion control, being aware of the calorie counts, exercising and not going on a diet but rather life style changes.
now I'v been told and tried this and it works for me..food cravings usually last about 15 minutes. If you occupye your time by diverting your attention on other things besides food like exersizing, wich you should do any way or reading a good book or article, handy crafts, writing, walking. let your imagination go wild. you be to buisy to think about your cravings.Apple cider vinegar burns calories to.
I've had the same problem. What I did, and it works, was do something else to get your mind off it. It can be hitting two birds with one stone too. Like for me, when I got the feeling to eat, I went to my guitar and played until the craving was gone. That way, I didn't eat, and I got some practice in too. But never starve yourself either, if you're really hungry, go and get something healthy like a piece of fruit.
i'm in the same situation..i'm going to weight watchers, and what i've done is try and find low fat or fat free alternatives for the foods I love...low cal frozen pizza...low fat cheeses..stuff like that..it really does help..but you can't always ignore cravings..something in the food you're craving may be something your body is telling you that it needs. and also if you try and cut out all the things you love it'll lead to cheating..try and have just a few bites of something..that's working for me.
