A bicycling regime for getting lean, please?

My long rides are now relegated to the weekends; am basically a week-end rider with intermittent 18 mile rides to work.

So that you can't sue me, first let me say.....please have a physical and make sure you are healthy. Okay, now an 18 miles ride is not bad, it would be good if you could ride say 10 miles per day to start out with. Build yourself up from there. It would be impossible to say how much you should ride from then on because each person is different and their bodies respond differently to exercise. Remember, watch out for the pedestrians and vehicles out there and wear a helmet. Best of luck.
