does fasting work?

Question:
does fasting really work? ive been told to loose weight that you should fast for a while and eat a fruit everyday and if i fast should i exerise?

Answers:
Yes! I'd swear by it.
I'm on a fast right now... it's been almost 2 full days. Personally, I find it difficult to exercise during a fast. I like to take it easy while I'm not eating. A few hours of bicycling is all I usually do, and it takes a diet coke to give me enough energy to do that.

Other Answers:
fast do help but you need to exercise
I was on Medifast and it worked really well. My Dr. suggested it. If you want more info. just e-mail me lovejae247@yahoo.com
dont fast but cut down on your eating and drink plenty of water. That along with excercise should get your weight down.
fasting is perhaps good in a way, but make sure you can control yourself on eating only a fruit a day. i wudnt exercise, because since your eating so little, you MIGHT faint from exhaustion
portion control, diet, exercise and water thats the best way to loose weight
no fasting doesn't work. it actually makes you gain weight . when you stop eating your body begins to survive and get nutrients of your own fat, thus causing you to gain some weight. just drink alot of water and watch what you eat.
When you fast, your body goes into starvation mode, storing fat and slowing down your metabolism. When you start to eat again, your metabolism is so slow that you not only gain back the weight, you can gain more.

Fasting is good for a periodic cleansing of the body, but not as a weight loss program.
yeah but if your not helping you want loose weight you need 2 exerise..............if that helps
When you fast, you of course cut your calories. When your calorie content is low, your metabolism (the rate at which you burn calories) decreases. When you exercise, your metabolism increases. Your best bet is to cut your calories (rather than fasting) and get at least 30 minutes of exercise each day. An aerobic exercise (running, biking, swimming, rollerblading, etc.)will burn more calories than yoga, resistive exercises, or other low impact activities (although they help with muscle tone).
Well I do fast every now and then just to cleanse my body of all the toxins. During a fast I try to drink at least 3 qts. of water, and yes it is true that you gain weight after a fast BUT that only happens if you automatically go back to eating like normal, you have to give your body a couple of days to re-adjust so try eating soups and tiny portions of meals throughout the day instead of just eating the 3 meals a day.
Good Luck! Hope I was able to help you.
And if you dont want to completly fast, then go on the negative calorie diet.
