I'm going to start my diet tomorrow and i was wondering ,I am 5'4in.&165lbs & i want to lose about 50 lbs.with diet &exercise.Should I lose the weight 1st just with cardio and after I lose all my weight start with paying atention to my abs,or should i do both. I just want it toned i dont want it all musculer.please i need a good answer.

do a complete program...cardio plus weight training. you don't need to bulk up to become the incredible hulk. just use less weight and more repititions. good luck. be sure to include diet changes so you don't counteract everything good you accomplished by sucking down a bic mac.
I would start with eating right for the first week or so. Then start doing cardio and weight resistance, using light weights. the only way you will burn fat is with cardio. If you do ab training and no cardio you will look bigger. the more muscle you have the more calories you burn with cardio. Doing both is a great way to lose fat and inches. Eating right is the way to help the exercise
I think you're better off doing both cardio and weights. You NEVER do weights before cardio, and you can only do so much cardio at first, so why not combine both of them in one workout session?

Fifty pounds is not an easy goal if you want to do it the correct healthy way, so I applaud you there. I lost 12 pounds in three weeks and all I did was cut fast food out of my diet and went to the gym every other day for two hours straight working on both cardio and just about every muscle group in my body.

Also, you don't want to lose weight quickly because it can come back just as fast and sometimes you'll end up gaining more fat. The reason for that is that your body can't handle the sudden change it's going through. It's better to lose weight slowly.

Well, first of all let's have you take a 3 month goal. at 165 lbs I'd say that if you lost 20 lbs that would be great in 3 months. You can work on the other 30 lbs over the next 9 months after that. With your goal set, you should do more than just cardio. You do need to do some weights. Just remember that if you work with high weights it's used to build muscle. If you use some low weights it can be used to tone and burn extra calories which is what you want. You can also get some exercise videos that have 1 and 2 lb weights as part of some of the routines. Another thing, I don't think that you will need to loose 50 lbs. at 5'4 you'd probably only need to loose something like e30 lbs and you'll have a nice figure if you do cardio with weights. Take a look after 30 and see how you feel and look. You'd be surprised at how good you will look. I'd also suggest that you get a friend to work out with you. Someone that will keep you accountable.
