you don't want protein powders or shakes if your trying to lose weight, protein makes you feel full, but in a shake there is way more then you need. Stick with something like yogurt. the protein in the shake will either help you gain weight through being stored or will be excreted out of your system.

just taking protein will not affect your weight, its the workouts you do while taking it that will affect your muscle growth. if you are doing mostly cardio and taking protein to help them recover, then you will more than likley tone them, but you may have a little muscle gain. not alot though. if you are going a weight program, more than likley you will put on mass. I use GNC whey-protein, and creatine and ive lost weight and gained muscle. it varies.

This is what worked for me. My Dr. recommened The Medifast Diet. It is Soy Protein. It teaches you to eat 5-6 small meals a day every 2-3 hours to speed up your metabolism.
