Why is so important to not only stretch before excersising, but also after?

Its always better to stretch before and after doing any vigorous exercise so that your body is prepared for it..If u dont stretch then u may end up getting sprains and aches all over your body..Always better to do some warm up before going for proper exercise..

It has something to do with increasing blood flow to the muscles (I think). Usually, people cramp up after an intense workout, but stretching prevents that (not a very medical response, but best guess).
You stretch to prevent cramps.
After you workout your muscles are warmed up and stretch easier and better.
