How fast do you think it should take me to run a 5K?

Question:
I am a 30 yr old white male, 5 ft 9 in, 210 lbs. Keep in mind that I am still recovering from a torn ham string. The course is relatively flat. It is at the end of July, so I am expecting it to be about 90 degrees and humid, at the time of the race. I usually run a 8:50-9:30 mile. I am shooting for about 27 minutes. Is this realistic?

Answers:
yes it is realistic. But since you are still recovering you may want to take your time..maybe 28 minutes? But hell, i am just guesstimating!

Other Answers:
Absolutely as long as you train for it! Believe me, if i can do it, you can do it!

If you are an an ant, 24 hours. I am 15 yrs old and my 5k pace is about 20 minutes. I think you should beable to do it in about 30-35 min. Good luck!
