I started working out this week, and today I did my legs. They feel like Jello and are red. Is this normal?

Question:
I had to take two months off because I injured a hamstring, and the doc told me I could start again this week. I don't hurt, yet, but like I said, I feel like my legs are noodles. Is this okay?

Answers:
It's normal to have your legs feel like jello after working out. It would be normal for any body part for that matter. You have just exhausted your muscles, and it's a good thing. The redness can be explained because of the blood pumping through the area. It can even be considered normal for them to swell a little bit. This is just your muscles getting used to exercise again. I wouldn't worry about it at all unless it continues for longer than a month, then I would see an orthopedic MD or a sports therapist. Til then though, don't sweat it. Good luck and Blessed Be. V-

The legs feeling like jelly has happened to me a few times after I went back to working out after stopping for a while. You probably just need to ease back into it. Not sure about the red legs though!
its completely normal
not to me!
After a two-month break, sure. Just start more slowly and build up your endurance.
I don't know about the red colour, but the rest is normal. Just easy into any program as long as a doctor says its ok
Girl lemme come over to ya crib and i'll bring us a bucket of popeye's and i'll rub the lawd out dem legs...
Yes if you haven't worked out in a while and aren't in great shape. You will be sore tomorrow.
I woudln't think that they would be red unless your workout included something that made a lot of contact with your legs. The jello feeling is normal when you start working out after not doing it for a while...especially coming off of an injury. Definitely take it easy and if the redness doesn't go away, or if it occurs again, call your DR!
uh, yeah. just don't injure yurself
jello legs are normal due to lactic acid and muscle inflammation but red legs is like....what!!!!!
sure. you haven't used them leg muscles in two months. your noodles will turn into two strong tree trunks real soon and you'll be fine.
That happened to me when I went back to track after taking a break from running. If the redness gets any worse, get some compressor shorts and wear them when you work out.
As for the jello feeling, it will go away as your body gets used to exercising daily again.
Hope this helped. :)
Maybe you had too much of a workout. Take it in moderation and get harder on yourself as you go along.
you''l be fine......just don't over-do ur-self, and enjoy!
