What is the best diet you have ever tried, and why?

Simple counting of calories is working for me. I read about this in several magazines and tested it out, it works. The idea is really simple, the average women requires about 1800 calories of food intake per day. It doesn't matter what type of food intake it is (fat, carbs, protein), the body simply requires energy to function (calories). If you eat more calories than your body needs to function, you gain weight. If you eat less you lose weight. I was told that it's unsafe to go below 1100 calories per day, you end up losing muscle rather than fat. To gain a full pound you need to eat 3500 caloires above your required caloric intake, likewise to lose a full pound you need to eat 3500 calories less! Not in one day obviously! The idea is to average this out over a week. If you eat 1300 calories a day (assuming your average caloric requiements for your body is 1800) then you are eating 500 calories per day less. So over the period of a full week that calculates to 3500 calories less that week - you just lost a pound! I've done this and it does work. It's a bit of a pain to calculate everything, but in the end it's worth it. It also teaches you what true portion sizes should be. Once you lose the weight, remember not to go back to your old eating habits, or you'll just gain back the weight. If you had 20-30 minute exercises, walking or elliptical machine, you may add an additional quater pound or so of weight loss per week. Once you lose the weight you want, don't forget to add back that approximate 500 calories per day into your diet to maintain weight. FYI I believe for men their average caloric intake is supposed to be around 2200 or 2300 but not positive, for a guy to follow this calorie counting idea it's basically the same routine, he just needs to eat a bit more per day (1700 to 1800 calories approximately) to lose weight.

I've had great success with the seefood diet. I see food, I eat it.

I am on a weight watchers diet right now, and it works really well. You can eat whatever you want just in portions, it isnt hard to lose the weight, and your not paranoid about what your eating. The diet is kind of fun in my opinion. Diets don't work.lifestyle change does.

The things that worked for me were "Body for Life" and/or "The Abs Diet" (I realize the second one uses the "d" word, but read the book and you'll see it's not really like that.)

"And/or" because they are pretty much the same thing.

These are the best because they are logical and not on the low fat or low carb extremes. They just make sense. And they work.

Nothing will work if you don't work yourself though.
