don't resort to eating nothing
just eat less, or eat more foods that are low in fat

excercise always helps too

Other Answers:
if you don't eat your body will go in starvation mode, and when you do eat, it will take all the fat content from that to feed your body, because it doesn't konw when it will be fed again.
It is very unhealthy. That is the worst way to try to lose weight, your body needs nutrients no matter what, just choose a healthy diet, like Carbs only, or lots of Proteins along with excercing, you have many options. Good Luck
Eating nothing would NOT help you. It is absolutely the worst thing.

Your body will go into what I call "survival" mode. When it finds out you arent eating its going to start storing everything it can into fat to help keep you alive. You will gain weight -a lot- at first but you will lose it. It has seriously health risks though

You will want to speak with your doctor about going on a sensible weight loss plan
Cutting down on how much you eat is the WORST way to lose weight. I don't just mean it's unhealthy (which it is), I mean you will not lose weight the way you hope. By cutting the amount of calories you intake, you reduce the rate at which your body burns calories. Your body slows down, trying to conserve energy, and you lose weight more slowly than if you ate normal portions of food all day. If you want to lose weight, the best thing to do is cut 500 calories (basically fatty foods) out of your daily diet, then walk or do another form of exercise for at least 30 minutes. Anyone can walk for 30 minutes a day, and you'll see enormous improvement in how you look AND feel.
Not eating at all can actually slow your metabolism, causing some people to actually gain weight, and many others to not lose much weight at all.

I would suggest just having small meals several times during the day, or nibble on things on and off all day. Eat things that aren't junky like carrot sticks or crackers with peanut butter, and just have a little at a time. Have one decent meal each day for some real nutrition. Avoid eating out.
Get your thyroid levels checked out asap! Also, try asking this question on the Thyroid forum at www.about.com. You'll get a ton of answers there.

At any rate, get a full check up. It could be several things. Don't let this go..good luck.
not eating anything at all can also be considered a depressive condition, and related to anorexia. there's no need to be so drastic, unless you're so alarmingly obese that you're in need of hospitalisation. just follow a sensible, calorie reduced diet with as much low-GI food as possible (keeps you full but doesn't give you tons of glucose) and get a little more exercise.

its working for my dad, and when i've got my own somewhat knocked-sideways life back in order, i'm hoping it'll help me drop a few (.50?) pounds.
Well, its not what u eat,its how much u eat.Stay away from fried foods and red meat and u will be ok.
not eating will hurt you in the long run because when you do start eating everything you eat will turn into fat and your body will be so deprived of it that you might get sick when you start to eat again. plus when you do start eating again you'll gain all that weight back. my suggestion is eat in small portions but many times a day and do healthy foods.
No. You need to eat. You will not lose weight if you don't eat b/c your body thinks it is starving and will hold on and store the fat.

You will lose the most weight by eating natural and healthy foods five to six times a day, in small portions and drink a lot of water.
No. Because If you skip meals your body goes into starvation mode
and begins to store food for evergy later on which produces more
fat. You now need to watch what you eat very closely. No Fast food
Make sure you eat aprox every 2 hours. Breakfast, snack, lunch,
snack, dinner, snack etc. This way your metabolism keeps running
and you keep burning. However you will now need to excercise or
increase the amount of activity so you can begin to burn the extra
calories. It takes a lot longer to lose the weight than to put it on.
It may take months. Do not be discouraged though.Over time it
will come off. Other tips are "slim fast" and "weightwatchers".
These are good programs if you need a little motivation and can't
do it on your own.
