I don't understand fitness freaks. Why exercise very hard if in the end you will get sick and die anyways?

I can understand if your job revolves around it. Like if your job is to rescue folks and to save lives. Or if you are an athlete or fitness trainer of some sort. But the yuppies and stay at home moms that I see pile into the gym is ridiculous. Some of them exercise incessantly. All of the stress on the joints. Near exhaustion. And for what? It's like they have an obsessive compulsive disorder. Or they could be vain. A little lifting and some cardio two times per week is what doctors recommend and I agree with them 100%.

Fitness freaks will live longer and have a higher quality of life during their life. Fitness freaks also don't obsess on how other people spend their time. Some people watch others live their life and some people live life. "Get busy living or get busy dying."

The idea is to workout smarter not harder. I agree with what the doctors recommend.
like with everything else, dying is easy. it's living that's hard.
for some people exersizing is a stress relief. also, if like you say, the people you don't understand are stay-at-home mom's, sometimes the gym is the only place they can get some alone time each day. for other people, having a body that they can show off, and that they have worked hard to get is a point of pride.

Your question answers the issue of american obesiety. Most have the same outlook on life as you so they get fat and lazy.

For the fitness freaks well this is america and they have the freedom to do as they please just as you do.
Just because someone works out differently than you do doesn't necessarily mean they are a fitness freak. I agree 100% with whoever said "workout smarter and not harder" but you have to understand that an elite level athlete or someone looking to loose weight WILL need to workout more intensely than somebody who is a casual gym goer. A "little lifting and some cardio two times per week" is a very vague statement indeed. One type of fitness program will not necessarily work for everyone.

The reason why all people should exercise is because the body is a fine tuned machine that also requires maintenance, just like a car. You wouldn't leave a car locked up in a garage now would you? Its good to take the car on an open road every once in a while and "open her up" as that's what it is designed to do. Just like the car we need to go in the gym or wherever we exercise to maintain our bodies. Think about it. If you were stripped away of everything you own today including personal possessions, family, and friends, what would you have left? You would have yourself, your body. Why not make the most out of what is closest to you.
maybe some folks want to make the most of their time here on earth!
its obvious you spend lot time in the gym. to see those disgusting lower class waste of space people 'pile in the gym. are you a health care professional? or life saver?. what do you do there? ..
judge others to make yourself feel better?..

i hope your little lifting (love to know what that may be. dont do too much you might strain those joints !. Hey why dont you get a worthless stay at home mum to lift your feet off the couch once a week , while they vaccuum around you..and stop getting so worked up about what other people are doing thus givin you your twice weekly cardio workout.. Hey guess what .. Your gonna get sick and die one day too.. And i hope you get arthritis in your joints and cardiac arrest in the street ..and a Stay at home mum walks right past you .. on her way to the gym.
Go learn up on some medical and psychological facts about the benefits of trying to improve yourself no matter what condition your in.. hey that could be your lifting bit for the week .. only do two pages of the book tho. any more might make others see you as vain.
have a happy lonely long life.. dont eat or drink either coz your gonna die anyway.. wouldnt it be funny if you got a deep vein thrombosis from lack of movement of your legs. coz your lifitng regime only occured in your arms..and you needed a stay at home carer to look after your sorry self.Coz nurses and rescue people dont need to bother saving you.. youde be noted as a not for resus . worthless waste of time and resources. better utilised for the perfect people of the world
the only reason you agree with the doctor is coz you only heard what you wanted to hear from them. No need for you to work hard keepin fit now . must be a relief..
