My friends counting calories.is that anorexia?or bilimia?

Question:
My friend is counting calories and sometimes think she looks pregnant.I know most women go through this but she's not broken out of this and it's been two years!

Answers:
Unless she's overweight and/or on a supervised diet, she's been deceived by the media that for a woman to look beautiful she must be thin. Magazines, movies and TV will deceive with this so you buy stuff you think you need to make your life more complete (like diet products). But it's not true.

Life is short. be healthy and enjoy it. In the end, as you get older, everything about your body will change. Take care of it now.

By the way, calories are energy and, depending on the source, can have either a positive or negative effect on you. Fruit has calories. and so does pizza.

Other Answers:
anorexia

Anorexia: starvation, not eating.
Bulimia: binging then purging.
Counting Calories: diet?
It's not anorexia or bulimia.

anorexia counting calories is neither anorexia or bulemia, anorexia is not eating at all, and bulemia is throwing up after eating, and she is doing neither. thats fine if she is being conscious of what she is eating and how much but if it gets outta hand then get worried.

Anorexia=starving one self, excessive exercising

Bulimia= gorging then thorwing up

weight awarness=Calorie counting

she is #3

no. if you were anorexic you would starve yourself.Bilimia is every time you eat you go to the bathroom and throw up!some models do that! She is just watching what she is eating. As long as she is eating healthy then she can try to add some exercise to tone her body. Since you are a friend I would offer her your total support because you don't want it to develop into anything like that.

Counting calories is a healthy way to lose weight as long as the person has at least 1600 calories a day. They probably need 1800-2000 though. If she's not eating a lot then it could be signs of an eating disorder. She may need professional help.

Here is how an eating disorder is classified: There are a few criteria but it is decided on whether it is anorexia nervosa or bulimia nervosa (sp?) based on weight. You can be bulimic with anorexic tendencies or vice versa. You must be in the lowest 10% of your weight class or less to be considered anorexic, despite whether you starve yourself or throw up. People who are bulimic usually are normal to over weight. There are other criteria too. But that is typically how it is decided which one it is.
